Being served a cocktail in a sexy martini glass does something for the ego. I don't know what it is, but have you ever noticed when you're holding a martini glass how special and important you feel?

The glass not only has a seductive look, but the sexy cylinder almost has the appearance of an inverted flaring skirt. The glass by nature seems to create a festive mood ready made for fun.

The stylish martini glass is in a class of its own. Its elegant and refined style makes it the most popular choice when it comes to glassware and barware in the world.

Even advertisers realize the debonair look that accommodates a man or woman raising a celebratory toast as a way to get a particular ad message across. It is a common image seen in may magazines that feature stars and the super rich.

Serving a great tasting martini requires a special mixture of ingredients. The most popular way to serve this type of cocktail is with an olive. However, many are now experimenting with chocolate, cherries and even citrus fruit. There are no engraved rules.

Many bars and restaurants today will coat the ice cubes in vermouth or use Vermouth Spritzers to coat the ice to save money. Now most recently gin has been replaced with vodka as the more popular choice and as the picky martini purists would call itthe "Bradford" or "Vodka Martini" as we all know it, was born.

A very chilled martini glass still applies when serving the martini cocktail. Ask any bartender and they will tell you that the colder it is, the more delicious it will taste.

The trick they say is to use the martini shaker. What is a martini shaker you ask? Well if you have to ask, you haven't had a good shaking yet!

The martini shaker is a must-have tool to make the best martini cocktail. The martini shaker, usually made of stainless steel, is used to shake vigorously the liquid ingredients (gin or vodka and other ingredients) and ice together, strained and then poured into very chilled martini glasses.

Bartenders claim that by vigorously shaking the mix together, oxygen is added to the drink causing it to taste sharper and more refined. This is also how vermouth is evenly blended into the drink giving you a fine martini.

Some say one of the best-kept secrets to making a great tasting cocktail is to never let the drink turn warm. This is why they are always served in an ice-chilled glass.
