Once you make the decision to make your move into marketing information products on the internet, the first step is to research niches to determine which target audience needs and will pay for information.

One single idea which meets the needs of a narrow niche audience is not going to be enough to provide you with long term financial security. You will need to tap into a niche with many product possibilities. At a minimum enough possibilities to make it worthwhile to develop multiple products.

Say you have decided to create a eBook planning guide for weddings as your first info product for sale. A beginner in the information product business might want to start by creating a detailed product that covers all the details A to Z.

Look at it, though, from an experienced marketer's point of view. Great effort is going to be expended driving people to the sales site. A good conversion rate is 2% for this type of information product. What would be the purpose of wasting all that time, effort and money on selling a single $47 product and having no follow up, when you could easily create a lifetime profit stream from a proven buyer?

How can you do this? Information products serve the needs of your audience. A bride and groom have many issues they want to consider, and you can create dozens of guides that focus on things they need to know, such as How to Have a Destination Wedding at Home where you discuss how to hold a theme wedding in your backyard. Or, A Guide to Seasonal Flowers for Brides.

Sometimes, a single comprehensive information product is the way to go. But you also want to cater to the needs of your niche who don't need all of the other stuff, just what they, in particular, are seeking - like information on wedding cake flavors or homemade wedding favors for brides on a budget.

After that first great product sold to your customers, you have them on your mailing list as long as you can keep them interested. Marketing back end follow up products to them is a walk in the park. This is where you discover the true profit magic of internet marketing. Marketing expenses are low and conversion rates are higher for a list of past paying customers.

Be sure that before implementing your info product ideas, you investigate to make sure your proposed niche leaves you the opportunity to branch out with other product ideas and more profitable solutions to your customers' problems.
