One of the fun things about golfing is enjoying the many scenic golf courses around the country or around the world. Golf is about more than just hitting a ball with a stick. You get to be out in nature and see some of the best maintained resort areas there are. While you no doubt thoroughly enjoy golfing at home on that tried and true golf course that you know like your own living room, the adventure of golf is to get out of town and to golf in another town, another state, another country.

When you go to the expense of going on a golfing safari, you want to play at the peak of your skills and abilities on that new course so your final score is a true reflection of the competition between you and that course. The only way to be at your very best the first time you are on a world class golf course far from home is to have your own clubs with you. That means you are going to have to take your golf clubs on the road. And that means you will need to think ahead how to protect your clubs en route and how to make sure this big investment you have made in quality golf clubs stays in top notch shape for many years to come.

The very idea of just putting your golf clubs in their bag into baggage claim can give you nightmares. So if you want your clubs to stay in pristine condition when you travel, a reliable travel bag is a must. There are two styles of golf bags to protect this precious resource on the road which is hard shell casing or a soft sided golf bag. The hard shell golf case is the best protection for the rough environment of baggage claim.

It's easy to think money when buying a travel case because the soft sided golf case is the least expensive way to go. But when you consider that this golf case is all that is standing between destruction and surviving the trip for a very expensive part of your golf game, you may want to reconsider. When it comes to a set of golf clubs that may have cost you top money and that were customized to your game and body type, saving a few dollars on their protection just doesn't make sense. If you must be economical, better to buy a good reliable hard shell case second hand than to compromise the protection of your clubs.

There is no question that you cannot expect a soft golf case to cut it when your expensive golf clubs must go through baggage claim. Sometimes airlines place such an emphasis that you do not put your golf clubs at risk in baggage claim that they will offer insurance for your clubs if you use quality protection like a good hard shell golf case. Think of buying a quality golf travel case as an investment because it will serve you well for the upcoming trip and for many trips in the future or in any other harsh environment that your clubs may need to be in.

This is not to say that soft golf cases are not very good choices for certain kinds of travel situations. A soft case is excellent for a car excursion because it is lighter and can be packed into the truck of a car and not take up as much space as a hard case. Another plus is that you can wrap your clubs in a soft casing and they can still fit down into the golf bag for transportation so you can keep the entire unit together for the entire trip.

Once you buy a travel case for your clubs, the next step is to wrap each individual club before the trip so they don't shift in the case and are harmed by hitting the case or each other. Golf head covers can be bought online or at the golf shop that can tie to each club and protect the heads from dents or being put out of balance by impacts from other clubs. But when you pack the clubs into the travel case, also pack cloth around the clubs like towels or items of clothing for the trip to cushion them for the entire journey.

Providing your golf clubs with the loving care they need is something you think about after each game of golf. It is just part of the game after you play to clean your clubs and inspect them and if there are minor repairs needed to get the to the golf shop for those repairs before you play again. It only stands to reason then that you would extend that same level of care and concern for your clubs to taking them traveling with you to take your game to a new city or country to add another course to your list of ground you have conquered in your continued mission of conquest of the game of golf.
